Mechanical Properties of NiTi Rotary Files Fabricated through Gold-Wire, CM-Wire, T-Wire, and R-Phase Heat Treatment

Although nickel–titanium (NiTi) rotary files are invaluable tools in dentistry, the relationship between their properties and performance has not been elucidated. Herein, of gold heat-treated (ProTaper Gold ProfaTaper Gold), controlled memory (CM)-wire (HyFlex CM V Taper 2H), T-wire (2Shape), R-phase (K3XF) NiTi was evaluated; non-heat-treated ProFile used as control. The bending, buckling, cyclic fatigue, torsional resistances were determined, phase transformation behavior studied through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). angle rotation until fracture (ARF), ultimate strength (UTS), stiffness evaluated via resistance testing. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA) post hoc analyses conducted using Games–Howell test Tukey’s test. displayed highest buckling (8 N), CM-wire exhibited lowest bending (0.660–0.758 N cm), HyFlex fatigue resistance. ProTaper high UTS low ARF. K3XF demonstrated most suitable for use curved canals, while gold-wire ideal constricted canals. recommended re-treatment cases.
